New York Mets right-hander Christian Scott is set to undergo a significant surgery next week, which will address his ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) by installing an internal brace. This procedure will unfortunately sideline him through the 2025 season. Scott has been absent from the lineup since July 21, and the Mets officially placed him on the injured list two days later, citing a UCL strain.
Scott’s elbow issues are not new; they trace back to the previous season when he missed over two weeks due to similar problems. This season, the right-hander made nine big-league starts, compiling a 4.56 ERA and an impressive 3.25 strikeout-to-walk ratio before his injury prematurely ended his 2023 campaign.
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza commented on the situation, emphasizing a careful approach regarding Scott's injury. "It's too early to tell. I'm not going to sit here and speculate when we don't have all the facts and all the information. We've got to wait till the doctors and all the people that have to read the MRI and all that, and then we'll make that decision," Mendoza said.

Scott is not the only key pitcher the Mets are currently missing. They are also without Kodai Senga and Paul Blackburn. Blackburn, in particular, was recently shut down due to a spinal fluid leak in his back, adding more depth challenges to the team's rotation.
